I am now looking forward even more to getting to Darwin for two weeks.
This was going to be a happy clappy dialogue about the bands we have seen in the past few months as well as posting some photos of birds on the local Lake Wendouree. But the best laid plans will have to wait as we sadly lost our dog Amber today. She went to bed as usual with her never ending enthusiasm for a bedtime chew and woke up paralysed in her back legs and this got progressively worse. She was in a lot of pain and the big brown eyes were on us til the end. I vowed once never to have another dog as having them go like that is very painful but I am glad that we met her even though there is a large fluffy tailed Amber shaped hole in the house now.

Dear Pete and Holly, I feel your pain. Amber was a lovely dog, and she had a wonderful life with you. Let's celebrate that.

That is really sad news, I am so sorry to hear. She sounded like a great dog and she will obviously be greatly missed. Losing a pet can be so tough, hope you are all doing OK.

Ian and Tamsin, thank you so much for your lovely messages. Goodness how heartbreaking are animals?! She was right as rain on Friday and it came out of nowhere. I still can’t believe it. Probably good that we’re heading to Darwin to help us get over the shock and focus on the happy times. Xxx

Humphrey and I are also feeling your pain. We're so sorry and although we never met Amber, we followed her story right from the first day she became part of your family. Take care and as you say, try to focus on the happy times. xx
